About Bar TZA
At Bar TZA, we believe in the power of great food, fantastic drinks, and creating unforgettable memories. Founded by Noel Martinez, a UC Berkeley graduate with a background in economics, our journey began in 1998 when we opened a cozy coffee shop on Mission Street in San Francisco. Coffee runs in our blood, as several of our relatives also own coffee shops throughout the city. Over time, our little coffee shop evolved into a beloved neighborhood staple, particularly among the Latino community in the Mission District, who relied on us for their morning coffee fix.
As the demand for our products grew, Noel, alongside his dear brother Carlos Martinez, made the bold decision to expand our offerings. We transformed our coffee shop into a full kitchen, serving a diverse array of breakfast plates, omelets, skillets, steak and eggs, breakfast sandwiches, and breakfast burritos. Drawing from our Nicaraguan heritage, we also introduced traditional dishes such as Gallo Pinto and Chancho Frito, alongside other Latin-inspired culinary delights like Lomo Saltado and Ceviche. Our menu showcases the best of Pan American cuisine, blending flavors from various cultures to create a truly unique dining experience.
Years of unwavering commitment to quality and exceptional service propelled us toward further growth. Inspired by our success, Noel and Carlos decided to open additional Cafe La Taza locations across the city, although some faced challenges and eventually closed due to various reasons. However, in January 2022, during the tail end of the pandemic, we introduced Bar TZA right next door to Cafe La Taza. This craft cocktail bar was designed with sports fans and anyone seeking a great bar experience in mind. From its stunning lighting to numerous televisions, Bar TZA has become the go-to spot for hosting exciting parties during major playoff games, milestone birthdays with DJ entertainment, and even intimate wedding celebrations.
Our menu at Bar TZA is a culinary masterpiece. Whether you're craving Nicaraguan-inspired Tostones con Queso Frito or our signature chicken wings, we have an array of mouthwatering dishes that will keep you coming back for more. To ensure excellence in managing the bar, Noel brought on his cousin Bryan Guerrero, who boasts an impressive 13-year background in the restaurant, bar, and nightclub industry. Having worked in renowned establishments like Marquee Nightclub and various Lettuce Entertain You restaurants, Bryan's expertise and experience in every facet of the industry make him the perfect fit for this venture.
With a promising start, we envision many incredible years ahead for Bar TZA. None of this would have been possible without the trailblazing spirit of Noel Martinez Sr., a Nicaraguan immigrant who started with nothing but his determination to succeed and the courage to build a lasting legacy. Thanks to his vision and the Martinez family's dedication, we continue to thrive and create memorable experiences for all who walk through our doors.
